We're excited about teaming up with Little Bird Organics

At Allpress Olive Groves, we believe few culinary ingredients rival the taste, versatility, and nutritional benefits of a good quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO).

Waiheke Island is fast emerging as a world class EVOO region – thanks to our soils that are rich in essential elements like potassium and magnesium, abundant sunshine, and low rainfall – making it an ideal climate for thriving olive groves.

The interplay between our olive trees and native bush that surrounds many of our groves, influence the distinct character of our island EVOOs. And our olives mature in the island’s salty sea breeze, which naturally keeps the bugs and leaf mould away, so there’s no need to use chemical sprays.

This makes our EVOO the gold standard of oils, with its low fatty acid profile, high biophenol content and natural antioxidants – meaning it not only tastes great but is great for you too.

We're excited to be partnering with Little Bird Organics on a series of recipes that are easy to make, taste yum and are packed with the nutritional benefits of raw organic ingredients and our Waiheke grown EVOO.

Little bird was created by partners Megan and Jeremy – Megan is the chef and creator of the little bird flavour, while Jeremy, an award-winning architect and designer is the brains behind the branding. Megan's upbringing in a family that championed the organics movement in New Zealand set the stage for her passion for wholesome, nourishing, and restorative food.

Megan May of Little Bird Organics says… “We’re incredibly excited to develop recipes using Allpress EVOO. Raw foods naturally provide you an abundance of nutrients, and when you ‘finish’ each dish with Allpress Waiheke EVOO, not only do they taste great but the EVOO helps unlock the nutrients in our raw ingredients, and you’ll also enjoy the nutritional benefits of Allpress EVOO too”.

So, why do we recommend you incorporate EVOO into your diet?

Well, for starters, it's packed with healthy fats that your body loves, particularly oleic acid. Plus, when you pair it with raw fruits and veggies, it helps your body absorb all those fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E and K.

And let's not forget about antioxidants. Both EVOO and raw food are full of them, and when you combine the two, it has a ‘synergistic effect’ (an effect that’s greater than the sum of the individual effects of raw food and EVOO).

EVOO also helps your body with nutrient absorption by soaking up all the good stuff from those veggies.

So, how much EVOO should you be consuming each day?

It’s recommended around 25-50ml a day will held reap all of these health benefits. Trust us, your body will thank you later!
